Teach My Heart Lord
Today we are in the book of The Psalms, in the very first chapter. Join along with me as we soak up what the Lord has to teach us today.
Psalm chapter 1 verses 1-3 gives us a contrast of two different lifestyles people live. The bible gives us wisdom and encouragement for all parts of our lives. This portion of scripture tells us what we must do, and then the result if we chose a righteousness lifestyle for God.
What we must do
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1-2
1. Live a Godly lifestyle based on His word
In this first passage it shows the contrast between those who have reverence for the Lord and those who do not. The contrast is evident in the daily lifestyle of a person.
We must be people who not only read the word of God, but who make it our lifestyle. Then we will be able to live Godly lives and people will come to know God when they see His light shine through us and our life.
As a result of living a Godly life we will be blessed. The Hebrew definition of blessed describes a person of bliss. In Proverbs this blissfulness is frequently connected to wisdom.
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom and the one who get understanding. Proverbs 3:13
Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. Proverbs 8:32
The one who listens to me, who carefully seeks me in everyday things and delays action until my way is apparent, that one will find true happiness. Proverbs 8:34, Voice
In order to walk a godly life we must first find wisdom, which is found through His word. We will find understanding when we receive the Holy Spirit who enables us to understand the word.
Being blessed is also used to describe a person or nation who enjoys a relationship with God.
The nation whose True God is the Eternal is truly blessed; fortunate are all whom He chooses to inherit His legacy. Psalm 33:12
2. Delight in God through His word
